The City of Compton seeks top talent to join the organization’s finance department, as its next City Controller. This position provides oversight to 20 employees, including a Deputy City Controller. The mission of the department is to ensure a financially secure and effective City government, and provide sound fiscal analysis, support services, and reporting in an accurate, timely, cost-effective, and professional manner to the City officials, departments, residents, and businesses.
Compton is a great place to live, work, and raise a family. It is home to almost 100,000 citizens. Compton is strategically located in the South Bay of Los Angeles County, less than 15 miles from the Pacific Ocean and a short car ride from the many entertainment, culture, and leisure activities of the region.
Department Priorities
- Prepare financial reports, operating budget, Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR) and Popular Annual Financial Report (PAFR).
- Strengthen audit processes and financial controls.
- Advance financial technology and systems modernization.
- Streamline processes to increase efficiency and turnaround times.
- Efficient collection of the revenues due to the City, including water utility payments, business and general tax revenues, and departmental fees.
