The Planning Manager plays an important role within the City’s Current Planning Section by providing management and direction to the Current Planning team. This position demands a high level of independence and initiative to oversee significant planning projects and providing leadership. The Planning Manager leads a team of staff and ensures training, guidance, and evaluation are provided. In addition to leading the Current Planning Section, this position works with the Advanced Planning Manager to coordinate implementation of new policies, such as Housing Element programs, new codes, and more! Internal collaboration within the CDD and other City departments is an important role of this position.

The ideal candidate for the Planning Manager position has a strong foundation in knowledge and skills related to administration and urban planning. The ideal candidate will demonstrate proficiency in leadership, strategic planning, data analysis, communication, and relationship-building.
